Driftwood Studio
Driftwood Studio and the property’s main house are set on 16 acres of virgin bush on the sand hills of Sussex Inlet. The Studio previously belonged to a talented local artist inspired by the vista and natural surrounds of his hideaway. The renovated studio is fully self-contained with a queen-size bedroom with a modern ensuite, large open plan lounge and well-equipped kitchen. The dining area opens onto a deck with a private BBQ. The studio has a TV and CD player and if you choose, a continental breakfast can be provided so long as the owners are going to be home! You can bring your own linen and towels or it can be supplied at an additional cost - breakfast for two $20 and linen $10.
From the property there is direct access to the Sussex Inlet beaches, as well as the main surf beach. It isn’t a difficult swim across the inlet to Bherwerre Beach. Cudmirrah Beach, however, is the patrolled beach in the summer and this beach is very close to the property.
Berrara is another popular beach for surfers, boogie boarding, and snorkelling. It is a short drive via Springs Road past Swan Lake. Swan Lake is a favourite water ski-ing spot and fishing area, and it has areas kept safe for swimming. Sunset over the lake can be spectacular. Berrara lagoon is another great fishing and bird watching spot and there is a great two hour walking track from there to Monument Beach.
There are so many wonderful places to paddle, you’ll just have to come and decide for yourself which is best. Here are places to choose from - Sussex Inlet itself, St Georges Basin, Swan Lake, Berrara Lagoon, and Jervis Bay of course.
Being in the bush but close to wetlands and the ocean, Driftwood Studio sees a wide variety of birds. From the property you’ll regularly see sea eagles, bowerbirds, butcherbirds, kookaburras, whipbirds, eastern spinebills and various other honeyeaters, yellow tailed black cockatoos, rosellas, rainbow lorikeets, wattle birds, treecreepers, pardalotes and much more. If you are lucky you may see our Glossy Black Cockatoos, Peregrine Falcon, Whistling Kite, Goshawk or even an Osprey.

Sussex Inlet and its facilities

Sussex Inlet township has a small shopping centre with a local butcher, fish shop and baker as well as a supermarket. There are several clubs, including the RSL and Bowling Clubs, with restaurants. Boat hire, fishing charters and fishing licences are available. There is an indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and a 9 hole golf course.
